Ann Washington Chapter, NSDAR, Mount Vernon, Washington
We are delighted to tell you more about our chapter. There is something for everyone, whether you are active or shut in. We are inspired by our patriotic ancestors who created the United States of America. Let us know your passions.
Some of our projects include service to veterans, essay contests, restoring monuments and veterans' grave markers, promoting literacy and history in area schools, conservation projects, Wreaths Across America, support for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, education about Native Americans, the Constitution, National Defense, support projects for a local camp for severely medically challenged children, and much more.
We have dynamic guest speakers. We collect canceled stamps for a wounded veterans project. We create displays at local libraries. We collect clothing and household goods for the Navy-Marine Corps Thrift Store. We write notes and cards to active military and veterans. We collect goods for local food banks. We participate in Earth Day cleanup. We display a Prisoner of War/Missing in Action (POW/MIA) table at a local restaurant during Veterans Month. We participate in parades. We make Quilts of Valor for military members and veterans. We have a free borrowing library for members. We provide a baby basket filled with needed items for a baby class at our area military base. We work with youth, adults, seniors, shut-ins, and other local organizations; and we do much more.
And we have fun! We even have an iconic Ann Pope Washington doll who travels, teaching us all sorts of interesting things. She is such a hoot!
As we like to say, "Ann Washington rocks!"
